I graduated from Whitko High School in 1983 and spent 4 years active duty in the United States Army as a Calvary Scout. I was stationed in West Germany, Alaska and Fort Carson Co. and then spent 2 years in the National Guard.

In 1990 I took a job with the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department. where I worked as both a Confinement Officer and a Communications Officer. I am currently working for the City of Columbia City Police Department, where I have worked for over 20 years. In that time I spent 14 years in the Whitley County Drug Task Force.

I am married to Christine (Defay) Simpson, the daughter of Dick and Susanne Defay, of Fort Wayne. I have 6 daughters and 5 grandchildren.

My only hobby is the ongoing renovation of a 135 year old Victorian home located on Chauncey Street, where my wife and I are doing what we can to help preserve a small piece of Columbia City’s history.
